A New Kid on the Block

There’s really a new kid on the block. The Turramurra teen is making a new for himself as he is on track for badminton stardom. We may be adding hype on the kid but he can be the next Lin Dan, or Lee Chong Wei of the game of badminton.

Ricky Tang, really lives and breathes badminton, and he hoped that all of his passion and devotion will one day see him win gold for Australia. He is only 12 and training a nerve racking six days a week, May it be on the court or in the gym so you would have to agree that he is a real deal.

His training always involves foot work moving around the court, multi-shuttle which is receiving a bunch of shuttles, he also said that he is devoting 13 hours of his week doing physical activities and training.

He’s love for badminton started when he was about five or six when his Mom always take him to the courts to watch her play. Then after about a couple of year her Mom bought her a racquet to play and hit the shuttle with. Since then he’s been training and playing competitively.

Ricky has more than 80 trophies after his success across NSW, but it all started when he received a call from none other than his inspiration and number one fan, his mom.

His favorite memory in badminton is representing Australia to play in Singapore, and since then he felt a very special feeling because everything and everyone there for him is new. So he was really excited and surely there’s a lot of fun experiencing new things and players.

“I would play until I die,” he said.

A big word from a small kid who believes in his foundation and skillset and he’s not shying away from the attention and from the challenge to take on the world.

He’s drive, hopes and dreams in badminton is to represent Australia in the Olympics and winning the under-19 state championships before he turn 15 years old.
