Step One: Rest at least 1 week prior to the tournament

Professionals are reducing the amount of their training when a tournament is near. The recovery period is important and critical to make sure your body goes back to the very best condition. A lot of players mostly amateurs when they have a game scheduled tomorrow they still want to train and play vigorously and this causes a lot of physical exertion, resulting in the fatigue and poor psychological state.

Step Two: A day before the tournament

Please make sure that you avoid the following; No Alcohol because you need to clear your mind, do not stay up too late even if you are so excited with your match try to rest and get more sleep to recharge your body, Stop using the computer, phone and etc. for a long period of time to and rest your eyes. All these things will directly lead to slower brain response and reaction time.

Step Three: The night before

Make sure that you have a list of the things that you need to bring and that you might need before and after your match. Make sure that you bring everything and put into your racket bag.

Loosen your muscles and get them ready for a high performance. Static stretch from head to toes for 10 minutes, then do a jog, some footwork drills, and stroke with a partner for another 10 minutes so that your muscle will not be stiff and you won’t experience leg cramps. It is good to get a little sweat out and warm the entire body so you can fully move as you play the game to your full potential.

Step Six: During the match

Adopt the right and good mental state as you approach your match. Being too conscious of winning and losing, seeking shortcuts to win a rally, being nervous, and any other should not be allowed to creep into your game. Never Say Die and Noting to Lose/Underdog mentality when your opponent is stronger. Keep your body relaxed and focus on the main goal.

Be well aware of these steps to better prepare yourself into a badminton match! Be Competitive but have fun and do not forget to enjoy every bit of the game and be cheerful in winning and most of all in loosing.
