The Badminton Legend Has a Very Good Corner

We are all aware that this Badminton God fell short in the recent Indonesian Open but he’s back on track as he look forward to end the second half of the year with a blast and in a high note.

The All England champion fall down to 10-21, 18-21 to the 24-year-old H.S. Prannoy of India in a long 40-minute second-round men’s singles match at the Jakarta Convention Centre on Thursday. A lot of people anticipated that he will win and succeed and walk away with the title it is the first time this year that Lee Chong Wei, the world No. 3 has failed to clear the early rounds of an Open tournament.

Now the World No. 2 Lee Chong Wei will be up against shuttlers from China at the World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland from Aug 21-27.

The reigning All-England champion will have national men’s singles head coach Datuk Misbun Sidek in his corner as he seeks to become the country’s first world champion. Malaysia will send two of their top guns, the one is the 34-year-old Chong Wei and independent Zulfadli Zulkifflki will be the two representatives at the world meet.

Lee Chong Wei will be accompanied by two giants in the badminton coach which are Misbun and Hendrawan that will look over the Legend to go all the way to the top.

“It’s not easy to fight against the four players from China and those from the rest of the world. Each one will pose a different challenge,” said Chong Wei after a training session at the Academy Badminton Malaysia (ABM) in Bukit Kiara yesterday.

“It’s tougher than the Olympics. In the Olympics, each country can field two players only.

“So, having two coaches – Misbun and Hendrawan – in Glasgow will be a great help for me.”

We all know that the Legend Lee Chong Wei is 34 years old now and this can be his last stint and participation on a badminton world title.

Said Chong Wei, “This is probably my last chance to challenge for the world title. So, definitely, there’s pressure.” And being a fan of the Legend we would like to see him win and take home, and held the trophy in his hands one more time.

He skipped the Australian Open to focus on the world meet. He also said that he didn’t do well at the Indonesian Open where he was upset by Prannoy but he is now fresher after the break. He is sure focused on his preparation for the world meet from this week onward.

Chong Wei the badminton star is also hoping that Misbun and the three other singles coaches – Hendrawan, Indra Widjaya and Sairul Amar Ayob can help elevate the standard of men’s singles in the national team.

We are to expect that we will be seeing a full recovered and a killer Lee Chong Wei in the world meet. He also said that he is glad that Misbun is back to help him and the other youngsters in the team and he is sure to be working together with him.

Let’s see how Lee Chong Wei the badminton God will surprise us with his exciting and amazing play one more time at the World Championships.
